* Being different even with free themes
[[free][Free design themes]] come with default background; changing it
will probably be one of your first steps.

Background image is an auxiliary file; in order to change your background,
simply replace *background.jpeg* with your image.

You may need to clean browser cache in order for changes to make effect.

It makes no sense to use large (width > 900 pixel) image file for the background.

We suggest using free images (e.g., from [[https://pixabay.com][Pixabay]]) or self-made photos to avoid copyright infringement.

* Using custom.css
Experienced users may use their own design by inserting a line\\
*theme=custom*\\
into *wiki.conf*. After that *custom.css* will be used for design.

By activating *custom.css* and updating it you can change virtually everything:
fonts, colors, shapes, shadows, and background.
